The Sister Juliana Beuerlein Fund was established in recognition of Sister Juliana Beuerlein’s dedicated, compassionate leadership as Chief Executive Officer of Saint Thomas Hospital in Nashville from 1981 to 1989.
"One of my associates who applied for Sister Juliana support just came to my office with tears of joy after learning that a couple of her upcoming bills were paid in full. She couldn't believe it. Thank you so much for your help! Great to be part of a ministry like this."

Dive Deeper into the Problem that Ascension Helped Solve
Through no fault of their own, associates may suffer a financial setback due to illness, the death of a loved one, a house fire, or the loss of a spouse’s job. During the pandemic individual needs of caregivers and associates at all levels escalated due to economic uncertainty. In some cases we have even experienced co-workers who have lost everything due to natural disasters such as the tornadoes of 2020 or the monumental flood in 2010.
What is happening today?
Today the Sister Juliana Fund is well-established and benefits from regular gifts made by associates to the fund to support fellow associates in need. While maintaining individual confidentiality the Foundation helps struggling associates in ways both large and small – whether covering a relatively modest utility bill or household expense or making larger grants to those who have lost their entire homes, The Foundation works to lovingly support associates with monetary support and access to financial counseling.
