Since the first OMIM coach was purchased in 2011, over 23,000 screenings in 26 counties in the Middle Tennessee area have been performed.
“We are able to get out in the community. Access is really the key to mammography. We have a lot of ladies who would not have done it if we hadn’t been there.”
Dive Deeper into the Problem that Ascension Helped Solve
Each year, the coach continues to receive more requests for service and Ascension Saint Thomas continues to seek ways to increase the availability and affordability of breast health services to underserved, uninsured, low-income, and minority women. Philanthropic support continues to underwrite free screenings for those who lack resources across Middle Tennessee
What is happening today?
As a faith-based nonprofit healthcare system, our ministry is called to actively seek those who lack access to quality, affordable healthcare. Ascension Saint Thomas delivers life-saving mammograms to women who might otherwise lack access to this vital exam. The crucial access to screening and breast health education contributes to early detection and a reduction in late stage breast cancer and breast cancer mortality.
